Ideas for Embroidery Designs

If you love working with thread and needles, then you may have worked some embroidery designs into your work.

Embroidery is an art just like any other. With your imagination, there are an infinite number of designs you could weave. If you knit a sweater, scarf or cap, you can add a design with a special meaning.

Some designs include letters and basic shapes. For example, you can add the words “I love you mom” on a sweater with a heart in place of the word “love”. This would make a great gift for Mother’s Day.

If you have more experience, you can try more complex pattern designs. This may include flowers, religious symbols, butterflies, or little animals.

Designs can also reflect a specific holiday. Christmas and Halloween sweaters are a trendy option. A sweater with a cupid design would make a great Valentine’s Day gift for a spouse or lover.

A sweater with a design of a graduation cap and the graduation year is a great gift for your son or daughter who just completed high school.

You can always check online for some nifty ideas. Try experimenting with different embroidery designs or take on new challenges to expand your skills.

Help!! I would like to embroider on terrycloth
Good afternoon and thank you for reading my cry for help ;-(

I am new to machine embroidery, with nowhere close by to receive classes, and wasting a lot of materials trying to do things by eye. Now, I would like to personalize my daughter’s towels, but the designs does not come right….any suggestions?

You need a stablizer on the top of the terrycloth so you have a nice clear stitch on completion. I like to use Solvy tear away. It is clear, light weight and easy to apply. Just hoop it over the top of the fabric you are embroidering on. When completed, tear it away. Your stitches won’t get lost in the terry cloth loops that way.
Additionally, if your towels are heavy weight and you can’t hoop them, use a “tacky” stablizer. You hoop the stablilizer with the tacky side up, smooth area to be embroidered onto tacky side and stitch away. It’s hard to picture, but it works really well. I have done small 1 1/2″ knit headbands this way and they turn out perfect. Hope this helps

I would suggest using “Water Soluable Topping”. (Mine came in a pack of 4 types of stabilizers – each in its own plastic tube.) I actually used this for the first time a few days ago on some terry bath towels, and they came out perfectly.

All you need to do to remove the “topping” is run it under water from the sink. The tube says you can use this on anything with larger loops (ie terry, velour, corduroy, etc.)

        Hope this helps!

Hi, you definitely need to use a water soluble topper to make sure the design does not sink into the pile, also you need to make sure the design is suitable, if it is too delicate it will disappear in the towel.

I just found this site and dowloaded some free samples, I chose my three changed the format to fit my Viking 400 and saved them in my Embroidery folder. If I try to open them I get a message saying not a valid win 32 program, how do I get them to work?

    Thanks

    Source for Robes?

We have been purchasing short (knee length) robes from American Apparel for embroidering. They have now discontinued this style and I am having trouble locating another source.

Everything that I have found so far is 3/4 length. As we do these primarily for brides, the shorter length is better. If anyone knows where I can these, I would really appreciate it.
